About Me…

It always feels a bit strange to write a paragraph describing who I am, what I am about and why I am doing what I do. That being said, I started this blog mainly because I wanted a place I could post recipes, and to share with family and friends what I am doing and what may have inspired me on any particular day.

Our home is chaotic, there is never a dull moment. But we try to spend as much time as possible together, making memories and messes as we go.

I am passionate about all things related to food. And my family. I love baking and creating amazing dishes, whether just for my family meals or for get togethers. I feel that food should inspire people to pay attention to not only what they are eating, but also how preparation affects the texture and taste of ingredients. I grew up in a house where both my grandmother and mother made from scratch meals every day. Dinner time at our house could last 2 hours, because we took the time to enjoy our meal  and the company of each other. I loved sitting in our kitchen watching my Mimi (grandmother) make her from scratch pies, her crusts are pure heaven and I have yet to come across a pie as good as hers. Both my mother and Mimi took the time to make things we all enjoyed, often going to farm stands to buy the freshest ingredients. This instilled in me a respect for fresh, local foods, that I try to incorporate in cooking for my family as much as possible.  I used to love going to farm stands with my grandmother, to help her pick out perfect green beans, strawberries, potatoes, radishes, blueberries, tomatoes etc. She taught me so much more than she will ever know when she was showing me how to find the perfect tomato.

This world is full of families that are rushing through dinners to get to their computers, sports practices, video games, and social events. We truly have lost the meaning of family meals. I think we need to spend more time talking, sharing, laughing and learning with our families. And what better way, then around the table (or sitting on a blanket on the floor for an spur of the moment picnic, like we sometimes do).  I hope that my recipes and funny stories inspire people to take a little more time out of their busy lives to sit down and savor meal time and anytime spent with their families.

We have lost that connection, and as mothers, wives etc. we need that! and in a technological world, what better place then here!
